Intellicheck Mobilisa has been awarded a contract for the supply of its Defense ID system to secure the California Army National Guard's facilities across the state.

Communicating with a single installation control server, the handheld site security solution is expected to offer real-time identity awareness and to secure access control for persons seeking entrance to a number of the California Army National Guard's facilities.

The purchase agreement also includes the ability to query information from the National Crime Information Centre, to help enhance security personnel's ability to thoroughly scrutinise and evaluate visitors requesting access and assess whether they pose threats to the service personnel and their facilities.

Intellicheck CEO Dr William Roof said: "Having the real-time capability to determine whether visitors and vendors seeking access to these facilities are legitimate, or present a threat, can save lives."

The Defense ID security system is designed to scan and authenticate driving licences from all 50 US states, all Canadian provinces and majority of Mexican states, as well as military and other identification documents issued by federal agencies.

"The real-time capability to determine whether visitors and vendors seeking access to these facilities are legitimate, or present a threat, can save lives."

The system initially determines if the identification document is fake or stolen, and subsequently alerts security officers of a potential threat in real-time by comparing a visitor's identification card information with data available from both public and confidential government sources.

The data includes whether the person is on be-on-the-lookout lists, the subject of law enforcement wants and warrants, or listed for military base debarments and driving suspensions.

The field-proven security solution is currently deployed to safeguard 23 military installations and 16 ports throughout the US.

Led by the Adjutant General, the California National Guard is responsible for the command, leadership, and management of the state's Army National Guard and Air National Guard.

The National Guard has both a federal and state mission with responsibility to assist state government in times of disaster and the country when fighting abroad.
