US-based DiSTI has won a contract from the US Army to upgrade the Stryker maintenance training system (MTS) diagnostic troubleshooting trainer (DTT), which is currently being used at Fort Lee, Virginia.

DiSTI’s Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions (STS), which is serving as the incumbent contractor for the original Stryker MTS programme, secured the contract.

Under the $4.4m Phase IVa contract, DiSTI will update maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for the Stryker infantry carrier vehicle (ICV), anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).

"This is another example of the proven success achievable when using our industry-leading virtual maintenance training development technology."

The contract also covers Stryker vehicles and subsystems, including the engine, suspension, and remote weapons system (RWS).

As part of the updates, existing training will be converted from a 2D user interface to an improved 3D Virtual Environment (VE) developed by DiSTI for the Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS).

The contract includes the upgrade of 158 existing procedures to the 3D VE, the installation of new software in DTT classrooms, and the provision of instructor / operator training.

DiSTI founder Joe Swinski said: “This contract award is another example of the proven success achievable when using our industry-leading virtual maintenance training development technology.

“The power of the VE Studio production pipeline consistently delivers quality maintenance training systems that instructors and students love to use.”

The Stryker MTS provides training for the army’s 91S Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

The MTS includes hardware hands on trainers (HOT) and part task trainers (PTT), as well as the MTS DTT classroom virtual training.

Produced with VE Studio, DiSTI’s virtual training environment provides a realistic 3D training environment for the Stryker classrooms.
