The UK Government is supporting frontline armed forces charities across the country with additional funding.
With this support, the charities will continue their battle against the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The defence community, including serving personnel, veterans and their families, will benefit from an extra $7.3m (£6m) funding.
The latest fund comes from a support package announced last month and is on top of current financing for veteran’s mental health and the Armed Forces Covenant Trust.

By GlobalDataThe UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Cabinet Office are supporting the finding, which will be administered by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and given as grants.
Charities offering services in nine major areas such as supporting the elderly (including care homes), service families (including childcare), mental and physical health, housing, domestic violence, and more, are eligible to apply for grants.
Office for Veterans’ Affairs director David Richmond said: “Charities play a vital role in supporting our veteran community by providing a wide range of support and services.
“It’s critically important that the government is providing support to them to allow essential services to continue during these difficult times and The Office for Veterans’ Affairs will continue to work closely with the charities to ensure the funding reaches those who need it most.”
Recently, Veterans’ Gateway app and HeadFIT platform to support the defence community were launched.
The financing provision for charities is headed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
Moreover, the National Lottery Community fund can be used by small and medium-sized charities to bid for funding.
A board will be set up to decide the allocation of funds. It will include representatives from MoD, the Cabinet Office and COBSEO, the sector body for UK Armed Forces charities.
