British engineering company Rolls-Royce has won a $1.2bn five-year MissionCare contract for the maintenance of AE 1107C engines on US marine corps, navy and airforce V-22 aircraft.

Under the MissionCare contract, the company will be responsible for propulsion system support on a ‘Power by the Hour’ basis.

The company said that Rolls-Royce AE 1107C engines are assembled at the company’s largest facility in Indianapolis, US.

The AE 1107C engines are part of the AE engine family, which has been providing reliable service in military and civilian aircraft. The AE engine fleet has more than 77 million hours of service globally.

Rolls-Royce has taken up a $600m programme to modernise and upgrade technology at the facilities in Indianapolis, which is expected to result in an advanced manufacturing operation.

Rolls-Royce services president Paul Craig said: “Rolls-Royce has supported the warfighter and these remarkable, revolutionary aircraft since they entered service in 2007.

Rolls-Royce has delivered approximately 1,000 AE 1107C engines for the V-22 fleet in operation around the world.

The company said that the fleet of over 375 MV-22s and CV-22s in service has recently crossed 500,000 flight hours.
