The Australian Army has awarded a performance-based logistics (PBL) contract to Rockwell Collins to deliver extended avionics support for its fleet of CH-47F Chinook helicopters until 2020.

Under the agreement, the company will be responsible for delivering PBL-related support, such as field service engineering, programme management, and logistics service.

Repair and overhaul for the common avionics architecture system (CAAS) components installed on the helicopters and transportable flight proficiency simulators will also be provided.

Australian Army Cargo Helicopter and Unmanned Surveillance Program Office Chinook platform manager Rachael Taylor said: “The partnership with Rockwell Collins in support of the Australian Army CH-47F Chinooks has proven economical and highly efficient whilst improving successes in its operational domains.

Under the contract extension, local support and on-site maintenance and training will be provided for the avionics used by the Australian Army.
