Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has been awarded a contract to deliver a new loading system in support of the upgrade of the British Army’s fleet of logistic vehicles.

Under the deal, the company will provide a total of 382 retrofit kits for the enhanced pallet loading system (EPLS) to be integrated into HX trucks.

Valued at more than €43m, the RMMV contract was booked in the first half of this year. The delivery and upgrade is slated to be completed by the end of January 2021.

Between 2005 and 2013, the British Army acquired more than 7,500 HX logistics vehicles.

With growing demand for transport solutions for containers, officials from RMMV, MAN Truck & Bus UK and the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) designed a plan to retrofit and modernise existing flatbed vehicles with a hook-lift system.
