The Brazilian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a five-year global support package (GSP) contract to Turbomeca do Brasil (Safran group) to support 100 Makila 2A gas turbines.

Under the contract, the company will provide initial provisioning, technical support on-site, fleet and pool management and training.

The Makila engines power the EC 725, which is operated by all three Brazilian armed forces and the Presidential transportation group.

The Brazilian armed forces EC 725 fleet includes 230 Arriel and Makila engines.

The company previously assembled, tested and overhauled 50 EC 725 helicopters, powered by Makila 2A engines, in 2008.
