Thales has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India's Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) to explore opportunities for its STARStreak missile technology in India.

The MoU has been signed to support the Government of India's 'Make in India' initiative.

The missile has three laser-guided darts that cannot be jammed by any known counter-measure, Thales stated.

Its three-dart ‘hittile’ configuration is said to maximise lethality, while the highly accurate laser beam riding guidance enables engagement of low-signature targets.

Thales' STARStreak has already been integrated with radars, infrared sensors, and command and control systems.

It can be used in a man-portable air defence system (MANPADS) role as a single or multi-launcher configuration.

The Thales-BDL cooperation is also expected to strengthen bilateral relations between India and the UK.
