Sagem has secured a contract to supply JIM Long Range 2 (LR) multifunction infrared (IR) binoculars to an undisclosed Nato country.
Under the terms of the deal, the company will supply more than 200 JIM binoculars to the nation.

The contract also covers provision for remote-control terminals, which will be added to the JIM-LR units already deployed by the country.
Work under the contract will be carried out at the company’s facility in Poitiers, France.
The JIM LR is a multifunction IR pair of binoculars designed to assist soldiers in long-range target detection, acquisition and intelligence-gathering missions at any time of day.
The binoculars feature day / thermal (3-5µm) vision, a global positioning system (GPS), interface cables, a tripod and portable monitor, a logistic container, and a remote operating system (ROS).

By GlobalDataThe handheld, self-powered binoculars are fully compliant with the French Army’s FELIN dismounted soldier system, and are also used by several Nato forces’ infantry, artillery, intelligence, forward observer, special-mission, border and coast guard units.
Around 9,000 JIM LR binoculars have been supplied to armies worldwide, including 2,000 for the French Armed Forces.
