Patria’s AMV28A armoured wheeled vehicle has been successfully tested at the Hanko area in southern Finland.

The trials involved one Patria AMV28A vehicle in a test configuration with a full amphibious weight of 28t, and another AMV28A equipped with a Kongsberg Protector MCT-30 turret.

Both vehicles completed various amphibious tests in strong wind conditions without any difficulty, Patria stated.

The AMV28A was launched at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2017 earlier this year.

Featuring an automated amphibious mode, the 8×8 armoured wheeled vehicle is said to offer protected and continuous fighting capabilities on land and at sea.

The vehicle’s extended hull has enough space to accommodate larger size infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) turrets and up to eight dismounting soldiers.

Nearly 1,600 AMV28A vehicles have already been ordered for use in challenging conditions by customers in seven countries including Finland, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, South Africa, UAE and Sweden.

Patria AMV’s structural solutions are said to provide high payload capacity, high-quality protection, and integration of heavy weapon systems.

Additionally, Patria introduced a 120mm mortar system integrated with a container at IDEX 2017.

The Patria Nemo Container includes all the equipment required by a mortar unit in a single package, and is delivered with everything that a mortar unit needs, such as protection for the crew, the weapon and ammunition.
