The US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) has awarded a $260.1m contract to Oshkosh Defense to supply additional Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTVs).

Under the order, Oshkosh will deliver a total of 1,065 FMTV vehicles, under Order Year 8.

In addition, TACOM has announced an administrative modification to FMTV A1P2 requirements contract with the company to establish the pricing of the eighth, ninth and tenth Order Years under the contract at an estimated value of $466m.

The modification paves the way for future orders under the FMTV A1P2 contract until 25 August 2019.

Oshkosh Defense Army and Marine Corps programmes vice-president and general manager Pat Williams said: “The highly successful FMTV A1P2 programme is a prime example of Oshkosh partnering with the US Army to deliver high quality vehicles while meeting cost, performance, and schedule objectives.

“We are pleased to continue our service to the US Army in delivering the A1P2 requirements to the US Army and its Nato and International allies.”

Oshkosh Defense was first awarded the US Army’s FMTV contract in 2009 and has delivered more than 35,700 FMTV trucks and trailers so far.

The FMTVs are equipped with crew-protecting armour and advanced technologies to provide protection to move troops and supplies, recover vehicles and weapon systems or haul equipment.

Oshkosh said that commonality of parts across chassis variants significantly reduces the logistics burden as well as operational and support costs.
