Meggitt Training Systems has secured a contract from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to support its Hardened & Networked Army (HNA) and Enhanced Land Force (ELF) Phase 3 programme.
Valued at $18m, the latest contract involves upgrading the ADF’s existing virtual systems to the latest configuration, boost the accessibility of the overall system and save on costs related to live fire training.
As part of the contract, Meggitt will deliver hardware and software upgrades to 18 existing networked weapon training simulation systems (WTSS) facilities all through Australia, in addition to offering mortar crew and group training to existing individual marksmanship training abilities.
The contract also involves the development and delivery of simulators for 52-81mm mortars; 14-advanced 0.50cal heavy machine guns; new BlueFire Browning pistols and an 84mm Carl Gustav anti-tank weapon with new ammunition types.
Meggitt has been supplying simulation systems to the ADF since 1999 and carried out two upgrades for the WTSS and IFT systems, while it is in the last phase for the delivery of the HNA/ELF Phase 2.
