The US Army has awarded a contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to provide support services for the army sustainment command (ASC) distribution management centre.

Under the $128m contract, the company will provide centralised materiel management control and distribution services to help ASC ensure readiness and speed up logistics support to battlefield soldiers.

ASC, as a subordinate command of the Army Materiel Command serves as the army’s logistics integrator for contingency and sustainment support of US fighting forces around the world.

The command synchronises acquisition, logistics and technology, and provides sustainment to the tactical level logistics support.

Work will be carried out at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois and at other US Army sites around the world.
