The US remains determined to deploy its anti-missile system in Europe to guard against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats, according to the US vice-president Joe Biden.

Biden said the US and EU are working together to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, according to the Associated Press.

“Iran’s nuclear programme violates its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and risks initiating a nuclear arms race in the Middle East,” Biden said.

In 2009, the US Government adopted a plan to deploy Patriot missiles across various countries in Eastern Europe and on ships in the Black Sea and Mediterranean.
