The US Army has awarded a contract to BAE Systems for the procurement of long-lead materials to renovate 101 Bradley Operation Desert Storm situational awareness (ODS SA) vehicles.

Under the $74m contract, the company will procure 101 kits of 43 long-lead items and additional parts to reset the Bradley ODS SA vehicles to precombat condition and upgrade them to the improved situational awareness capability.

BAE Systems heavy brigade combat team system vice-president Joe McCarthy said the restoration of the Bradley would sustain its life, and provide a reliable and efficient vehicle for warfighters as they completed their missions .

The five different variants of Bradley vehicles for the army’s heavy brigade combat team include are infantry fighting vehicle, cavalry fighting vehicle, fire support vehicle, battle command vehicle and engineer squad vehicle. They can operate both in close-combat and open-combat situations.
