The Finnish Army has awarded a contract to Saab for further deliveries of the RBS 70 ground-based air defence system.

Under the $35.5m contract, the company will deliver related equipment for the short-range air defence missile systems.

RBS 70 is specifically designed to be used by dismounted infantry or integrated on vehicles to protect ground forces and sites against aircraft, helicopter, unmanned aerial vehicles and missile threats.

Initial deliveries of the system materials are scheduled for 2011.
