Raytheon Company has won a US$17m US Army contract to provide the Canadian army with 462 Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) Bunker Buster missiles.

This is the first international sale of the missile, which employs a fragmenting, high-explosive warhead designed to breach or destroy a multitude of target sets, particularly in complex urban environments.

Raytheon will supply a wireless version of the missile, which receives commands through a wireless datalink, not the traditional wire connection that has been used in the past.

The missile is compatible with all existing TOW 2-capable ground launchers including the Canadian Light Armoured Vehicle with TOW Under Armour and the Improved Target Acquisition System.
