The Czech Government has approved its Defence Ministry’s plan to acquire US military equipment for its troops under foreign aid programmes, the ministry’s press service said.

The purchase, to be funded by the defence ministry budget, includes tens of GPS devices, radio stations, night vision goggles, 11,000 pieces of ammunition and 100 Swiss-made Sig 516 rifles.

The Czech military also wants to have 17 identification friend or foe (IFF) systems, according to Prague Monitor.

The government had recently approved the acquisition of eight night vision sights for small arms, ammunition and communication equipment from the US for Czech troops in Afghanistan.
