FNSS, a joint venture between BAE Systems and Turkey’s Nurol Holding, has signed a $559m letter of offer and acceptance to provide its AV-8 armoured vehicles for the Malaysian Armed Forces.
The letter was awarded for the design, development and manufacture of 257 AV-8 armoured vehicles.
The vehicle, to be manufactured and redesigned by DEFTECH in Malaysia, is based on the FNSS-designed PARS 8×8 multi-purpose, multi-mission, wheeled armoured vehicle.
FNSS will provide the technical assistance and technology transfer as well as the integrated logistic support to enable DEFTECH to manufacture the vehicles.
The AV-8 will be Malaysia’s first indigenous family of 8×8 armoured wheeled vehicles consisting of 12 variants.
FNSS and DEFTECH have previously delivered 211 ADNAN armoured combat vehicles and eight 120mm armoured combat vehicle mortar carriers to the Malaysian Army.
