The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin UK to deliver the small arms range targetry system (SARTS) to support UK armed forces.

The £37m ($58m) delivery contract includes a suite of infantry target equipment consisting of fixed and moving range systems with accurate scoring and marking to expedite throughput and increase efficiency.

SARTS is a live fire range training capability that will enable UK armed forces to conduct small arms live fire tactical training on ranges and field firing areas from basic all-arms weapons tests to advanced field firing exercises.

Under the contract, Lockheed will deliver and install a suite of equipment in 140 locations worldwide by March 2013.
