Kongsberg has signed a CROWS II contract with the US Army for spares and is part of the increased CROWS II frame contract.

The common remotely operated weapon station (CROWS II) programme is a joint acquisition programme for a remote-control weapon system that enables the operator to acquire and engage targets from within the vehicle.

The system is designed to be mounted on various vehicle platforms and supports the mk19 grenade machine gun, 0.50-caliber M2 machine gun, M240B machine gun, and M249 squad automatic weapon.

The latest CROWS II order is valued at Nkr152m ($26.1m).

The initial CROWS II framework agreement was disclosed on 22 August 2007.
