The Sri Lankan Army is to purchase high-tech armoured vehicles from Russia, Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya has said.

“The government is already negotiating to receive high-tech armoured vehicles built in Russia to strengthen the Armoured Corps. We can expect more opportunities for troopers to take part in UN peacekeeping duties,” he said.

“The army should be further strengthened to face any situation and should not allow the terrorism to resurface.”

The country is in discussions with Russia regarding the purchase of the vehicles with superior technology, according to ColomboPage.
