The US European Command (EUCOM) and Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have concluded the multiday Juniper Falcon 11 manoeuvres.

IDF chief of staff, Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi said the programme was part of bilateral training exercises to build cooperation between IDF and the US armed forces.

“This is an important part of our ability to operate in different scenarios at sea, on the ground and in the air.

“It emphasises the deep, intimate relations between us and the US when facing mutual enemies, such as when fighting terror,” he said.

The US exercise director, Major General Craig Gourley, said the purpose of the exercise was to be fully prepared and well trained to face real-time missions or threats, according to Xinhua News Agency.

The annual drills are part of a strategic cooperation accord between the two countries since 1984.
