Global high-performance test systems and sensors supplier MTS Systems has received purchase orders for the delivery of advanced technology sensors to be used in systems for the US Department of Defense (DoD).

With a total value of approximately $187m, inclusive of all options, the purchase orders have been awarded to the US-based company’s Sensor Business Unit.

“Through these efforts we have demonstrated an ability to deliver outstanding sensor technology while meeting the rigorous quality, reliability and delivery standards needed to support the expanding needs of our military.”

The company has already been awarded and funded orders of up to $20m and include option clauses that are expected to be awarded incrementally up to an additional $167m throughout the performance period of each contract.

Expected to be completed over the next five to seven years, delivery of the new technology sensors are slated to commence in the company’s fiscal year 2019.
