The Moroccan Forces Armées Royale Special Operations Company (MSOF) has assumed ownership of specialised vehicles delivered by the US.

Under an $18m grant, the ownership has been transferred after three years of training and equipping the MSOF company.

A total of 21 specialised vehicles, valued at approximately $1m, have been delivered.

US Embassy senior defence official colonel Kenneth Gjone said: “While this delivery marks the completion of this multi-year security cooperation project with Morocco, the military-military relationship between our two great countries is already strong and will continue to grow over the coming years.”

Since 2017, the US Embassy Office of Security Cooperation and the Utah National Guard have established a relationship with the MSO.

Each year, several combined training events are conducted in Tifnit and other locations.

The MSOF has worked closely with various US Special Operations units and accumulated vast training experience, according to US Africa Command.

The vehicles will allow the company to carry out special operations and gain internal company command and control.

The MSOF is expected to be able to conduct all of these activities by the end of 2020.
