L3Harris Technologies has received an order from the US Army for the delivery of its Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binocular (ENVG-B).

The initial $442m other transaction authority (OTA) order was awarded for the ENVG-B Program of Record and L3Harris is one of the two firms to receive the funding.

The system is designed to increase situational awareness for soldiers by providing imagery and data directly from the battlefield.

It also boosts mobility, protection, targeting and manoeuvrability for the soldier.

L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions president Lynn Bollengier said: “We are pleased with the army’s continued confidence in L3Harris as an industry partner on this critical program for the close combat soldier.

“We look forward to working with the army on this new requirement as we continue to deliver combat-ready ENVG-B systems under the directed requirements contract.”

The ENVG-B system features a high-resolution display, an embedded soldier wireless personal area network, quick target acquisition and augmented reality algorithms.

It helps improve interoperability and sharing of data by interfacing with the US Army’s family of weapon sights and army’s Nett Warrior.

In October last year, L3Harris delivered the first 40 combat-ready ENVG-B systems to the US Army.

In June 2018, US Army Contracting Command awarded a three-year contract, valued at $391m, to L3 Technologies for the delivery of the latest, next-generation binocular night vision goggles.
