Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has been awarded several contracts for the US Army’s M153 Protector common remotely operated weapon stations (CROWS).

The total value of the contracts awarded to the company in December amounts to Nkr805m ($93.36m).

The company said that contracts are in agreement with the CROWS indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) frame contract with the US Army.

On 14 September, the US Department of Defense awarded a $498.29m firm-fixed-price contract to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

Under the contract, the company will use the funds for continued production, sustainment and engineering services for the M153 CROWS.

“CROWS is designed to offer improved protection capabilities, training and development support for the US Army’s vehicle programmes.”

It also includes a Nkr620m ($61.9m) for the Low Profile CROWS configuration, spare parts, and repair and reset of already delivered equipment.

Kongsberg has sold nearly 20,000 M153 CROWS units so far. The weapon is being used more than 16 nations, including Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, and the UK.
