The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said an attestation parade was held while observing all protocols and guidelines with respect to the ongoing pandemic situation across the country.

The women soldiers have completed an intense 61-week training period. They trained on all elements associated with basic military training.

Provost training included policing duties and war prisoners’ management, ceremonial duties and skill development such as driving and vehicles maintenance and signal communications.

CMP C&S commandant said: “The training imparted to them and the standards achieved would hold them in good stead and help them prove to be a force multiplier at their new units, located across varied terrain and operational conditions in the country.”

In January 2019, the government approved the induction of women in the military police. India plans to have 1,700 women soldiers by 2036, in batches of 100 recruits per annum.

In February last year, the Supreme Court of India ordered permanent commission for all women officers in the Indian Army.
