Honeywell has secured a $476m contract for the production of T55-GA-714A engines and spares for the US Army’s CH-47 Chinook fleet of helicopters.
Under the four-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract award, Honeywell will ensure that the Chinook fleet has spare engines to support future missions for Boeing‘s Philadelphia Production Line until 2024.

So far, Honeywell produced over 6,000 T55 engines, logging nearly 12 million operational hours on the Boeing CH-47 Chinook and MH-47 helicopters.
Under the latest contract, the company will ensure that Chinook helicopters will meet new aircraft requirements of the US Army and foreign partner nations.
Honeywell will assemble and test the engines at its production facility near the company’s aerospace global headquarters in Phoenix, US.
According to the company, the contract for CH-47 engines and control units will ensure ‘mission readiness’ for heavy-lift helicopters and military troops.

The CH-47F is an advanced multi-mission helicopter that comprises a fully integrated digital cockpit management system, a common aviation architecture cockpit, as well as advanced cargo-handling capabilities.
In a separate development, Elbit Systems Of America said it will provide the US Army with continued support and maintenance of the integrated helmet and display sighting system (IHADSS). This system is used by AH-64 Apache pilots.
Elbit will execute the work at its Sustainment and Support Solutions’ Component Repair Center of Excellence in Talladega, in the US state of Alabama.
