ITT’s Enidine has joined Team Invictus which is delivering Bell 360 Invictus aircraft competitive prototype for the US Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) programme.

The company was selected by Bell Textron, a Textron company, to deliver passive vibration control technology for the Bell 360 Invictus.

In addition to Enidine, eight other aerospace companies are also part of Team Invictus working to submit the competitive aircraft prototype.

As agreed, Enidine will work with Bell to deliver passive Liquid Inertia Vibration Eliminator (LIVE) units. The component is designed to cancel vibrations transmitted during flight, reducing noises and ensuring a comfortable ride.

The LIVE units will also help in extending the lifespan of rotorcraft components.

The company has already delivered LIVE units for Bell 505 Jet Ranger X and the Bell 525 Relentless commercial aircraft.

ITT Control Technologies business aerospace product manager Ryan Evans said: “The LIVE unit utilises two types of technologies offered in Enidine’s strong aerospace portfolio, elastomeric capabilities that make up the laminated bearings in the Bell LIVE unit and our hydraulic technology.

“Paired together, these technologies support the Bell LIVE unit and tune to the frequency within the rotorcraft, reducing vibration.”

Currently, Team Invictus is working on the first stage of designing and developing the Bell 360 prototype.

The FARA programme aims to carry out the first flight in late 2022.
