Elbit Systems Of America has received two task orders to upgrade US Army’s AN/AVS-6 Aviator’s Night Vision Imaging Systems (ANVIS).

Awarded by the US Army’s Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, the contracts have a cumulative value of approximately $29m.

They are awarded as part of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract issued last year.

The ANVIS goggles are in use with the US Army active duty and National Guard rotary-wing aviation units.

According to the company, the night-vision modification involves replacing the existing green image intensification.

The ANVIS systems will be upgraded with high-performance white phosphor image intensifier tubes. It presents visuals in black and white detail for a more natural appearance to the eye.

The two orders will be executed from the company’s facility in Virginia, with deliveries expected to run until September this year.

In October last year, Elbit Systems of America and BAE Systems partnered to develop advanced operational technologies for combat vehicles.
