Elbit Systems Of America has secured a contract to provide integrated helmet and display sighting system (IHADSS) equipment for pilots of the US Army’s AH-64 Apache helicopters fleet.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a maximum potential value of around $76m. It has a five-year period.

Under this IDIQ contract, an initial delivery order of some $6m has been issued for execution in a two-year period.

Elbit Systems of America’s engineering and manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, US, will deliver the IHADSS parts to the US Army.

The IHADSS serves as a standard protective helmet and a mounting platform for an optical sight to present targeting imagery and symbology to the pilot.

This enables mission success and crew safety during flight.

Elbit Systems of America president and CEO Raanan Horowitz said: “This contract continues our decades-long relationship with the US Army’s Apache fleet.

“IHADSS is uniquely designed for the Apache. It displays flight and targeting information directly in front of the pilots’ eyes.

“This is a significant tactical advantage that provides reliable situational awareness, eases the pilots’ workload, enhances their safety and achieve success when flying their most demanding missions.”

In addition to providing the IHADSS for the Apache, Elbit Systems of America also offers the Multicore Mission Processor for the Apache AH-64E model.

This processor is used to provide all functionality on board the Apache systems.

Last month, the US Army placed an order with Elbit Systems of America to supply it with night vision goggle-binocular (ENVG-B) systems.
