BAE Systems has unveiled the combat vehicle 90 (CV90) with the new D-series turret at this year’s Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition.

The defence and security trade exhibition DSEI 2021 is being held in London, UK, from 14-17 September.

According to the company, the upgraded digital turret is being showcased for the first time.

The turret, which is a 50mm gun, on display is developed by BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.

It also provides ergonomic enhancements to benefit the vehicle’s staff.

The turret is built on expertise derived from continuous vehicle improvements and data analysis from the CV90 User Club, which includes seven nations currently operating the CV90 fleet.

Recently, the Royal Netherlands Army has selected the new turret configuration as part of an extensive $500m mid-life upgrade programme for the country’s CV9035NL.

BAE Systems Hägglunds managing director Tommy Gustafsson-Rask said: “We are extremely proud to display the new D-series turret at DSEI to demonstrate the latest technology on the combat-proven CV90 platform.

“The new turret configuration provides CV90 crews with improved protection and increased combat efficiency. It represents our continued commitment to delivering the most modern, advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle that meets our customers’ requirements now and in the future.”

At the DSEI event, BAE will also unveil the armoured, all-terrain BvS10, which is built on the company’s legacy Bv206 vehicles.

The vehicle is in service with Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, Estonia, and Denmark.

BAE Systems submitted its final bid to provide the CV90 for the Czech Ministry of Defence BMP II replacement programme.
