Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has placed orders for the supply of a new upgraded tactical training system (TSS).

The SEK108m ($11.6m) order will expand the existing instrumented Saab GAMER laser-based training capability to meet the needs of the Czech Army and the military police.

Saab will modernise the existing system and deliver new crucial functions within soldier-equipped training systems under the contract.

The company will also be responsible for vehicle-based systems with ballistic and real-time of flight simulation, as well as solutions related to urban terrain training.

According to the company, deliveries of the system will begin at the end of this year and run throughout 2020.

The first instrumented Saab GAMER system was procured by the Czech for the Pandur infantry fighting vehicle.

Upgrades were carried out for laser code interoperability (U-LEIS) in 2016.

This order represents an important extension of the system acquired by the Czech Army in 2011 and demonstrates high trust, satisfaction and confidence by the customer towards the tactical training system provided by Saab.”

The GAMER laser-based training system has become the Nato standard gunnery and combat simulator for platforms such as armoured vehicles and anti-tank weapons.

Saab’s laser simulators are also used by the armed forces of the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and the US.
