Cubic Global Defense is set to collaborate with Thales UK to compete for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) training and simulation systems programme joint fires synthetic training (JFST) project.

The JFST project has been designed to enhance training capabilities for the British Army by providing an immersive joint fires (JF) solution.

The solution will help train JF integrators in both mounted and dismounted roles, across land, littoral and air domains on individual and collective levels.

Cubic Global Defense president Dave Buss said: “We look forward to joining forces with Thales in the UK to pursue the JFST project.

“We are confident our partnership will offer unmatched live and synthetic JF training for the UK Armed Forces as they train across all domains.”

“As an industry leader in supporting and executing live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training worldwide, we understand the need for high-impact and cost-effective solutions.

“We are confident our partnership will offer unmatched live and synthetic JF training for the UK Armed Forces as they train across all domains.”

Under the partnership, the two companies will be responsible for providing combined subject matter expertise, systems understanding, and global training experience to deliver a new and immersive training system for the armed forces.

The consortium offers several capabilities to the JFST, including network security, exercise management and after-action review tooling, advanced LVC and synthetic environments, as well as training service management and delivery.

The project is expected to reach full operating capability by 2020.

In December 2017, QinetiQ, Inzpire and Close Air Solutions signed a collaboration agreement to bid for the project.
