US-based company Critical Solutions International (CSI) has partnered with BlackBox Biometrics (B3) for the Blast Gauge system, which will help identify hidden trauma in blast-affected warfighters.

Under the collaboration, the two companies will carry out exclusive sales of the system, in addition to delivering joint training and services support.

Through the agreement, CSI and B3 will combine their operational experience in providing life-saving technologies in blast environments with the research, engineering and programmatic capabilities required to identify the risk of blast-induced Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and long-term neurological disorders.

According to clinical specialists, repetitive blast overpressure exposure has a clear connection with adverse effects on the brain and primary organs of the soldiers.

Senior military leaders are currently being directed to re-evaluate and study blast-exposure limits both during training and in combat.

The two firms use miniature sensors, waveform algorithms and exportable databases to deliver the tools required to catalogue the harmful pressure the loading service members experience while carrying out their duties.
