BAE Systems has announced the development of a new campus in Parmer Austin Business Park in Texas, US.

Once developed, the $150m campus will be able to accommodate more than 1,400 employees.

The expansion is intended to mainly support US Department of Defense (DoD) customers.

The new four-storey, U-shaped office building is located near the US Army’s Futures Command and the Austin Capital Factory. It will feature engineering, manufacturing, laboratory and office space.

In addition, the facility will allow the company to keep on executing its programmes and deliver services to customers as committed.

BAE Systems Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions vice-president and general manager Dave Harrold said: “This expansion will continue our longstanding legacy of innovation in Austin, while also preparing us for our projected engineering and manufacturing growth.

“Austin is an ideal location to attract the talent we need to deliver the latest capabilities to our customers.”

BAE has plans to move its existing operations to the new facility once completed.

The site will be used by the company to execute new programmes and current business of designing, developing and producing radio frequency and electro-optical/infrared countermeasure systems.

Karlin Real Estate will construct the 390,000ft² facility, which is scheduled to commence work this year. Construction on the site is expected to finish in 2022.

Last month, BAE Systems won a contract to manufacture Long-Range Precision Guidance Kits (LR-PGK) for the US Army’s 155mm Extended Range Cannon Artillery (ERCA) munitions artillery shells.
