The annual command and control structure exercise, Steadfast Cobalt 2018, has successfully concluded in Kaunas, Lithuania.

The exercise saw the participation of approximately 1,000 Nato soldiers from more than 44 different units across 25 Nato allies.

It was designed to help assess the ability of Nato communications units to ensure data exchange, in addition to maintaining communication among combat units of the Nato Response Force, joint and component headquarters worldwide.

During Steadfast Cobalt 2018, the Nato Communications and Information Systems (CIS) Group (NCISG) and participants were provided with the opportunity to test and develop all elements of the command and control structure in support of the enhanced Nato Response Force (eNRF).

"Steadfast Cobalt 2018 is taking place in challenging times. The current security situation is demanding for the Alliance and we are adapting our structures and our thinking accordingly."

The exercise consisted of test phases that were evaluated and modified for the next phase, if applicable.

NCISG commander major general Wolfgang Renner said: “Steadfast Cobalt 2018 is taking place in challenging times. The current security situation is demanding for the Alliance and we are adapting our structures and our thinking accordingly.
