Canada’s apparel industry registered a 6.7% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 13.03% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 15.04% share in November 2021, recording a decrease of 3.51% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.48% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry in November 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 76.96% in November 2021, registering a 58.47% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer Support Specialists claimed a 10.47% share, an increase of 42.86% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 6.81%, registering a 27.78% decline from October 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 3.14%, down 14.29% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 52.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
Amazon posted 138 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 59.41% over the previous month, followed by Loblaw Companies with 30 jobs and a 25% growth. Rakuten Group with 11 IT jobs and Lululemon Athletica with 4 jobs, recorded a 26.67% decline and a 71.43% decrease, respectively, while Mejuri recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during November 2021.
Entry Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Entry Level jobs held a share of 48.69%, down by 50% from October 2021. Junior Level positions with a 42.93% share, registered a decline of 46.05% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.38% share, down 72.88% over October 2021.
