Asia-Pacific witnessed an 8.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
December 2021 has seen a decrease of 11.67% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 34.99% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.44% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 69.04% in December 2021, a 31.52% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.01% in December 2021, marking an 8.65% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 12.88% in December 2021, a 59.32% rise from November 2021.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 2.74% in December 2021, a 31.03% decline over the previous month.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 27.97% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s aerospace, defence & security industry during December 2021 over previous month.
The Boeing posted 431 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 31.7% over the previous month, followed by Elettronica with 107 jobs and a 2.88% growth. Thales with 69 IT jobs and Raytheon Technologies with 35 jobs, recorded a 6.76% drop and a 57.32% drop, respectively, while Leidos Holdings recorded a 28.57% decline with 25 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s aerospace, defence & security industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 63.7% share in December 2021, a 34.41% decrease over November 2021. Australia featured next with a 27.26% share, up 5.85% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 2.6% share, a drop of 54.76% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.77%, down by 6.32% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 43.56% share, registered a decline of 39.2% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.67% share, down 34.12% over November 2021.
