Asia-Pacific witnessed a 12.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
January 2022 has seen a decrease of 16.37% in the overall hiring activity when compared with December 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 37.46% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in January 2022, registering an increase of 2.21% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in January 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 78.98% in January 2022, a 7.02% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 5.68% in January 2022, marking a 60.78% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 5.11% in January 2022, a 70.25% drop from December 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.26% in January 2022, a 36.36% rise over the previous month.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.34% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s aerospace, defence & security industry during January 2022 over previous month.
The Boeing posted 531 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered an increase of 3.31% over the previous month, followed by Thales with 69 jobs and a 29.59% drop. Cubic with 21 IT jobs and Elettronica with 18 jobs, recorded a 51.16% drop and an 81.63% drop, respectively, while Trimble Military and Advanced Systems recorded a 54.17% decline with 11 job postings during January 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s aerospace, defence & security industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 75% share in January 2022, a 2.22% decrease over December 2022. Australia featured next with a 16.48% share, down 48.21% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 4.12% share, a flat growth compared with December 2022.
Mid Level job postings dominate in January 2022
Mid Level jobs held a share of 56.53%, up by 14.7% from December 2022. Junior Level positions with a 38.78% share, registered a decline of 38.1% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.69% share, down 60.24% over December 2022.
