Donaldson Company, Inc is a leading producer of filtration systems and components for military, aerospace, and heavy industry applications, has been selected by Nimda Co, Ltd, to provide advanced engine air filtration for the Achzarit heavy armored personnel carrier (HAPC), used by the Israeli Defense Forces.

Under the terms of the development contract, Donaldson has started to deliver air cleaner assemblies to Nimda Co, Ltd, for use on the Achzarit HAPC. Each assembly will include a Strata™ panel pre-cleaner, ultra-web® vee-pac™ filter elements, and filter element retention nechanisms. Production of vehicles began in 2014.

Donaldson director of defence ground vehicle products Matt Fortuna said: "Donaldson is proud to support the Achzarit HAPC, a remarkable fighting vehicle with nearly 25 years of service."

"Donaldson’s air cleaner assembly will deliver unmatched protection for the Achzarit’s new 850-hp engine and enables peak operational efficiency, even in demanding conditions."

The firm’s integrated system design incorporates pre-cleaning, Vee-Pac filters, and an air scavenge system that removes captured particulates, provides maximum filtration efficiency, and eliminates more than 99.99% of airborne contaminants from intake air flow.

In addition, the system design will ensure proper sealing so that particulates cannot leak into clean air ducts and facilitate maintenance by keeping the retention mechanism open if filter elements are improperly installed.

Donaldson’s ultra-web filter media is up to ten times more efficient than conventional cellulose filtration media, and is especially effective in capturing the fine dust found in harsh desert combat environments.

Current and prospective customers can discuss Donaldson’s advanced military vehicle filtration technologies with company experts at the Donaldson exhibit, Booth 8029, during the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition, October 13-15, 2014, at the Walter E Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
