Oxley has now been granted a PMA providing FAA approval for the replacement of incandescent bulbs on aircraft, after the successful launch of the Oxley Par 64 LED Replacement Landing Light. The PMA grants approval for the replacement of 4559, Q4559X, Q4559, Q5559, 4557, 4557X, 5557 and 5557X bulbs.

The Oxley light offers a saving of $1,000 per aircraft per annum* over sealed beam halogen units through reduced power consumption, a 100-fold increase in operational life and reduced maintenance cycles. The unit offers much greater reliability than halogen technology. It requires no aircraft modification and delivers the full optical power and beam pattern of the unit it replaces. The light doesn’t suffer degradation over time and has an MTBF of 23,000 hours, the unit is repairable with a replaceable lens and offers a peak intensity of 600,000 candela (cd).

Oxley has many years experience in developing LED lighting systems for aerospace applications. The team is extending the expertise developed through substantial work in the military market into the commercial aerospace sector to deliver a full range of high-performance LED aircraft lighting. Oxley is currently undergoing EASA Part 21G approval for the manufacturing of parts for aircraft use.

To see a demonstration of the light and talk to a member of the Oxley team please visit Stand F52 at the AP&M show on the 31 May – 1 June at Olympia.

*This saving is evidenced through actual reliability and repair costs of Par 64 sealed beam units published by a major airline and through the testing and reliability analysis of the Oxley LED based solution.
