Systematic Releases IRIS Organisational Messaging 2.0

The latest release of IRIS Organisational Messaging is now available. Version 2.0 covers a major technology upgrade and various functional, system management and interoperability improvements.

Systematic’s strategy is to develop commercial off-the-shelf products for mission critical market segments based on market leading technology platforms. The driving force behind this thinking is to provide a standard solution for a set of specific market segments instead of building something from the ground up for each individual customer. This saves the customer development time, risks and costs over the total lifetime of the system.

IRIS Organisational Messaging has been developed with this mindset and provides a military message handling system built on top of Microsoft Exchange. The new version of IRIS Organisational Messaging has been updated to support Exchange 2010 and Windows 2008 R2, the newest messaging platform from Microsoft.

The overall existing architecture has not changed so it is easy to integrate the new version into existing projects. For customers not currently able to upgrade their system, Systematic continues to provide support for Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 in parallel to the new versions.

Besides a major technology upgrade, the new version also has many functional enhancements. The address book functionality has been extended to provide better support for the user to select recipient addresses, including selecting recipient addresses from sources other than Microsoft Active Directory. System management has also been improved. For example, new command line tools provide an easy way of manipulating distributions, new ways of handling certificates have been added, and message folder views can now be stored in central configuration and distributed to all clients. In addition, interoperability has been increased by allowing transfer of classification and other transmission details through several mechanisms.

The IRIS software framework is the de facto standard for military messaging and has more than 100,000 users in over 35 countries worldwide. The IRIS suite of software, providing users with combat-proven messaging capabilities, has been developed over more than 15 years.
