Of the sixteen Nations taking part in this month’s NATO CWIX Exercise, a third are using Systematic Command and Control (C2) software to enable them to interoperate with each other.

Furthermore, a number of NATO commands and agencies are also using Systematic’s software during the exercise being run at the Joint Forces Training Centre (JFTC) in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The main purpose of the Coalition Warrior Interoperability eXploration, eXperimentation, eXamination, eXercise (CWIX) 2012 is to support current operations – predominantly the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

CWIX is testing systems that are already on, or soon to be on, the Afghan Mission Network (AMN), and one of the main goals for this year is to continue to develop interoperability to help shape the Future Mission Network.

For the seventh consecutive year, Systematic’s C2 and interoperability software products are being used in these important coalition interoperability trials to unify C2 systems from around the world.

SitaWare Headquarters Command and Control (C2) software, and its underlying SitaWare C2 Server, are being used by the Danish Navy and armies from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, and Sweden. Additionally, the Danish Army is putting SitaWare Frontline through its paces at the tactical level.

CWIX 2012 is set in the around the Horn of Africa including the vulnerable maritime artery of the Red Sea. The theme begins with a pre-existent, moderate-sized coalition stabilisation force conducting stabilisation operations in one nation. The three phases to the scenario are to seize, secure and stabilise. This allows for the maximum amount of interoperability testing for capabilities.

The latest generation of SitaWare fits neatly into this scenario as it is built on a new optimised data model that gives it the ability to support multiple MIP baselines simultaneously, which is often the case in multinational operations. This means it already supports both MIP Block 2 and MIP Block 3, and is also prepared for future releases.

Systematic’s interoperability experts are on-site throughout the exercise. For over 25-years Systematic has worked with Land, Maritime and Air forces in over 40 countries to provide specialist consultancy regarding C2 systems. From directing entire projects, to providing specific advice for particular phases, our people are world experts in all aspects of interoperability.
