Azerbaijan has conducted a drill review of military personnel with the beginning of the second training period in 2020.

In a statement, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that the review was held in all military units and the training base. Military equipment was also checked as part of the review process.

During the events, defence personnel also shared the main goals and objectives for the training period.

With the training, Azerbaijan aims to enhance the centralised command structure of the military, as well as achieve interoperability.

Additionally, the unit commanders agreed to work together to determine the best personnel in combat training during the training.

After the solemn passage, the first classes of the new training period were held in the formations and units to coordinate the interaction of the troops of the Nakhchivan garrison.

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan stated: “Combat missions are being clarified in the units, and the troops put in the alert are involved in combat training sessions at day and night time.”

Notably, Azerbaijan is also conducting joint military exercises with Turkey in Nakhchivan.

The tactical exercise, which includes air and ground forces of the two countries, is conducted in accordance with the agreement on military cooperation between the two countries.

According to Azerbaijan’s MoD, it includes combat aircraft, military transport, and attack helicopters. Training flights are also being conducted to hone aerobatic manoeuvring skills.
