UK MoD contracts KBR for facilities management services in Middle East

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a contract to KBR to supply facilities management services.

The contract will see KBR serve as the sole supplier delivering FM services to the MoD on deployed operations in the Middle East.

The company will deliver an array of hard and soft FM services that will include operating and maintaining existing infrastructure assets, as well as optimise the use of assets across the MoD operational estates.

KBR teams will also work alongside the MoD in locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Oman, Bahrain and the UAE to also provide cost-effective delivery for real life support services, including catering, cleaning, laundry, waste management and pest control services.

Additional services to be provided by KBR will include grounds maintenance, reprographics, office machinery and government furnished equipment servicing and maintenance.

"We are proud to have supported the British military on deployed operations over many years and are pleased to have been chosen as their support partner across the Middle East."

KBR EMEA president Jay Ibrahim said: "We are proud to have supported the British military on deployed operations over many years and are pleased to have been chosen as their support partner across the Middle East.

"This award is a testament to the hard work of our many staff who ensure that military bases function seamlessly day in, day out, in some of the most austere locations in the world, enabling military personnel to focus on their operational duties effectively."

The contract has an initial performance period of three years, with an associated revenue of $48m, and comes with an option to extend by up to two years for a total maximum value of $80m.

Under the contract, KBR is also expected to support both operational deployments and exercises undertaken by the MoD on a call off basis in future within the Middle East region.
