L3 Technologies is to showcase Longsword and SPYDR II tactical aircraft at the International Paris Air Show this year.

The AT-802L Longsword is an intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and light-attack aircraft developed in collaboration between L3 Platform Integration and Air Tractor.

This FAA and military-certified aircraft uses L3’s light strike system to combine subsystems into a single, integrated package to deliver ISR and light strike capability at an affordable cost, L3 stated.

L3 Aerospace Systems president Mark Von Schwarz said: “The AT-802L Longsword is a fully certified light-attack aircraft that provides more loiter time and greater weapons payload than other aircraft in its class.

"Regardless of the mission, Longsword delivers a variety of sensors and weapons at the lowest risk and price in the market."

The SPYDR II is said to be the latest in L3 Mission Integration’s line of tactical ISR aircraft.

It is equipped with a rapid aircraft payload deployment system (RAPDS), which allows the aircraft to reconfigure for mission operations in a short time frame.

The RAPDS interior and exterior modifications were designed to support roll-on / roll-off mission operations.

Von Schwarz added: “The RAPDS architecture is supported by multiple, tailorable supplemental type certificates, allowing operators to quickly switch between customised payload combinations to meet specific mission requirements.”

The air show is scheduled to begin on 19 June and conclude on 25 June.
