Kaman Aerospace has signed a contract with Sikorsky that outlines the pricing and conditions for manufacturing H-60 helicopter cockpits.

The five-year deal has been signed under the US Department of Defense MY IX H-60 procurement authorisation.

As part of the contract, Kaman will continue producing UH-60M Black Hawk and HH-60M MEDEVAC model cockpits for Sikorsky at its facility in Jacksonville, Florida, US.

The deal also includes the final assembly of the cockpits, detailed metal part manufacturing, and procurement of wiring harnesses, hardware and flight control mechanisms.

The company will also be tasked with procuring and installing specified flight safety items under the contract, which will come into effect in 2018 and end in 2022.

Equipped with an improved rotor system incorporating wide-chord blade, HH-60M MEDEVAC with advanced technological enhancements is capable of executing emergency evacuation missions under difficult weather conditions, during day and night.

The UH-60M Black Hawk is a medium-lift, rotary-wing helicopter that can be used to perform tactical transport, utility, combat search-and-rescue, airborne assault, command-and-control, medical evacuation, aerial sustainment, search-and-rescue, disaster relief and fire-fighting.

Since 2004, Kaman has delivered more than 1,200 new H-60 cockpits to Sikorsky.
