Leopard 2A4 tank

The Indonesian Army has successfully completed factory acceptance testing of the new Leopard 2 simulators built by Rheinmetall Group.

In May 2014, the company received a multi-million euro contract to manufacture and supply a driving simulator and gunnery simulator for training of the Indonesian Leopard 2A4 main battle tank crews.

Featuring the company’s ultramodern TacSi technology, the Leopard Gunnery Skills Trainer (LGST) and Driver Training Simulator (DTS) will primarily be used for sharpening the gunnery and combat skills of commanders, gunners, loaders and drivers.

The Indonesian simulators can be networked to enable tactical training at platoon and company level.

Delivery and installation of simulators is scheduled to commence shortly so as to complete the project in the specified timeframe.

"The Leopard 2 is a successor to the Leopard 1 MBT, and is designed to engage moving targets while moving over rough terrain."

Manufactured by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), the Leopard 2 is a successor to the Leopard 1 MBT, and is designed to engage moving targets while moving over rough terrain. The design is also similar to systems that have already proven highly effective in day-to-day military training operations.
